CB: （搶話大王說）沒有...我應該是...呃...嗯...（都搶了話還在想）想讓自己持續充滿樂趣。當夠幸運可以擁有許多選擇，或者夠幸運能夠有像張藝謀這樣的人來與我接觸討論電影作品，那些都是非常難能可貴的機會。嗯，對我來說，能夠有那麼多樂趣... 以我來說，在電影拍攝結束後，我是根本無法控制電影；而在拍攝期間，我對電影的控制也十分有限。但讓我享受的就是中間的那段冒險旅程，我也渴求著電影帶來的冒險。若拍完一部電影後發現到，你找不到在這部作品中自己到底做了些什麼，也找不到自己是否做了與以往不同的嘗試之後，那感覺是失落的。這部作品對我來說，是讓我無法抗拒的一次邀約，而且有幸能夠成為此電影的一員更是我的榮幸。基本上，我所追求的就是持續感受電影帶來的初次感覺。這也是我曾說過的，我熱愛在懵懂的狀態中融入到電影的世界裡。因為，身無任何技巧地走進電影的世界中，那感覺何等美妙。你什麼都不知道，很多事情你未曾嘗試也未曾側試，你也不會去做那些以前就發現很好用的花招，也不會使用那些「喔，我知道觀眾對那個招數有反應，我要再來試一次」的想法，我會不管那些東西。所以對我來說，每部電影都會是全新的、單純的、無垢的開始，我可以再次發掘自我，彷彿我不曾拍過電影一樣。這就是我最喜歡的感受。

GB: Christian, I mean winning the Oscar for "The Fighter" (audiences clap, Bale smiles), and success of that the movie series you do with Chris Nolan, which is unbelievably huge at this point. There are so many choices you could make at your acting career. To do this film, and once you've done, say something sort about your sensibility and your priority. Do you consciously setup to put together surprises? Are you trying to surprise yourself or...

CB: No... I guess I like the...uh... hmmm... keeping interesting for myself. And... there are incredible opportunities in the movie making when you're fortunate enough to have choices and fortunate enough to have someone like Yimou coming to me to talk about the project. And... So for me, so much enjoyment... you know it's always been for me, I have no control once we finish filming, and I have very limited control once we are filming. But I enjoy the adventure of it, you know. And I want to have adventure in movies. It's always disappointing when you finish movie and you feel like... ah... what did you really do there. What was different than you've done before.

And so for me, you know, with this, it was irresistible to try this and be very honor to be asked to be part of it. And basically, what you attempt to retain is the feeling you have when you first time doing movie. That's why I said I like it so much when you get unknown in movies. Because that's the most wonderful feeling when you don't really have any technique whatsoever, you don't know it. It's not been tried and tested, you are not being doing gimmicks that you find work and tricks you got "oh, people seem react to that, I will do that one again". You just ignore that kind of thing. So each every movie just becomes an absolutely new, pure, clean ?? for you can reinvent yourself for ????? as though you never made a movie in your life before. That's what I enjoy so much.
